Formed in New York City in 2010, The Julie Ruin is the most recent musical project of Riot Grrl progenitor Kathleen Hanna. Mixing feminist politics, shouty vocals, and a penchant for synth squiggles, The Julie Ruin is a great middle ground between her punkier past with Bikini Kill and her later dance-focused electro-rock band, Le Tigre.
The band’s current lineup includes:
