Gatlin Kate James - Brief History (перевод)

Born just outside of Music City, in Franklin, Tenessee, GATLIN KATE JAMES was no stranger to music. Her parents, Wendi Foy Green (Singer-Songwriter, “Sierra”) and Brian Green (Grammy-nominated music producer), paved the way for Gatlin to dive right into the industry. At just four years old, she began her career as a session vocalist, singing gang vocals for numerous children’s records in her dad’s home studio. She was signed to a national talent agency for acting at age 6, and at age 11, her love of songwriting bloomed. By 14, she formed a band with her older brother, Cooper, called “Cooper & Gatlin”.

 

In a whirlwind of events, posting cover songs on Youtube led to Nickelodeon pilots (that never aired), which led to moving to Los Angeles full time, which led to Gatlin booking an NBC series, “Heroes Reborn,” relocating her to Toronto, Canada for nine months. Upon arrival back stateside, the duo was signed to a Capital Records subsidiary label, Deepwell Records, owned by Adam Anders (Glee). However, after two years of writing sessions and “building a brand” before release, the band decided the ‘label life’ wasn’t for them. So, striking out on their own, the duo independently debuted four consecutive singles and music videos, “Break”, “Like You”, “Fragile”, and “On Your Mind”, which gathered over 7.1M streams on Spotify and 5.8M+ views on Youtube. Unexpectedly, as they were planning what would be their debut tour, the siblings had a heart-to-heart that revealed their priorities had changed, leading to Cooper and Gatlin parting ways as a band. In August 2019, Gatlin and her husband, Austin James, moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, along with her parents and younger siblings, stepping away from the spotlight and settling down to start a family.

 

Now in 2023, Gatlin has a renewed passion for music and is venturing forth as a solo artist. Heartwarmingly, her brother, Cooper, fully supported his sister taking center stage, and produced the four-song EP, “The EP”, which was released on March 24th.
